Dear Editor

 

With some national media highlighting uncertainty over weekly bin collections throughout the country, I wanted to write to reassure people that local Conservatives are vehemently opposed to introducing a fortnightly refuse collection service in Coventry. I agree with the new Communities Secretary, the Rt. Hon. Eric Pickles MP, when he says that they are “unhygienic and unpopular.”

 

In Coventry, the issue is one for the Labour-controlled City Council to decide on. I would welcome confirmation from the Council that there are absolutely no plans to introduce a fortnightly refuse collection service in the City.
